Themed guided tours to discover the natural and archeological characteristics of the “Isola di Sant’Andrea” (Saint Andrew’s Island) right in the middle of Loppio’s Lake biotope.
Discovering the fauna of the “Isola di Sant’Andrea – Sunday 20th of July 2025 from 9.30 am to 11 am
- The “Isola di Sant’Andrea is known for its archeological site and its history, but who are its “inhabitants” nowadays? During the walk, in company of the experts from “Fondazione Museo Civico” of Rovereto, we will get a closer look at the species that live in this area (hopefully catching a sight of some), while reflecting on the importance of protecting this wetland for frogs, toads, coots, and kites, as well as for many mammals – including wolves.
- Meeting at the access point to the area, on the bicycle route between Loppio and Passo San Giovanni. Guests are required to wear clothing fit for the activity.
Discovering the castrum of the “Isola di Sant’Andrea” – Sunday 10th of August 2025 from 9.30 am to 11 am
- Guided tour with the experts from “Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto” to the archeological site of the “Isola di Sant’Andrea” in Loppio’s Lake (Mori). It is a multi-layered site, with evidence ranging from prehistoric times to the Late Antiquity and the medieval period, all the way up to the First World War.
- Meeting at the access point to the area, on the bicycle route between Loppio and Passo San Giovanni. Guests are required to wear clothing fit for the activity.
Discovering the flora of the “Isola di Sant’Andrea” – Sunday 24th of August 2025 from 9.30 am to 11 am
- Loppio’s lake is a vast swamp characterized by a varied environmental mosaic. During this botany-themed walk along with the experts from “Fondazione Museo Civico” of Rovereto, we will observe the vegetation present on the “Isola of Sant’Andrea”: The woods on the different slopes, the dry meadows in the clearings, and above all, the vegetation along the shores and the lakebed.
