Saint Nicholas is coming to Soraga
In the streets of Soraga, at nightfall, Saint Nicholas appears accompanied by some angels and the dreaded Krampus to distribute gifts and sweets only to deserving children
On the evening of 5 December, starting at 6 p.m., the square in Soraga will come alive with the arrival of Saint Nicholas, the protagonist of one of the most evocative traditions of Ladin and South Tyrolean culture. Dressed in red, with mitre and crosier, the Saint will enter the village in a horse-drawn carriage, accompanied by two angels. But beware: the feared "Teufel da Soraga", the devils that frighten young and old, will not fail to sow a little fear, especially among the naughtiest children! The rite of distributing the gifts will be enhanced by the telling of the legend celebrating the start of Advent. After the ceremony in the square, St Nicholas will visit the houses of the village: the devils will stay outside the door... unless there are mischiefs to punish!
Free of charge event.
