La Vigna Eccellente

There was a time when even Mozart praised the excellence of Marzemino in his Don Giovanni. Today, this iconic wine, with its honest and distinctive character, takes centre stage once again in Isera for a new edition of “La Vigna Eccellente“, turning the village into an open-air stage of aromas, encounters and conviviality.

From the 1st to the 4th of October, 2026, the village’s Baroque courtyards and historic doorways will open their doors to celebrate a wine that does not chase trends, but knows how to speak to the future. Four days where centuries-old farming traditions meet a spirit of experimentation: talks and debates on new wine-drinking habits, tastings with local winemakers and the irreverent energy of Sommelier Spettinato, “Portoni Aperti” and food-and-wine courtyards serving local specialities, traditional farmers’ parades and theatre performances. And to round things off, the traditional polenta concia, prepared by Cantina d’Isera beneath the Town Hall “loggia”.

THURSDAY, 1st of OCTOBER

• 10.00 am, Palazzo de Probizer, Sala Nobile | Conference “Zeta come MarZemino – The red wine with all the right credentials to connect with younger generations”
  A morning of discussion and insight into the future of wine, bringing together younger generations, producers and industry experts.
• 12.30 pm, Casa del Vino della Vallagarina | Il Marzemino a tavola: lunch and a convivial round table
  An informal gathering for producers and restaurateurs to exchange ideas, experiences and new perspectives on promoting Marzemino in the restaurant sector.

FRIDAY, 2nd of OCTOBER

• 3.00–6.00 pm, Palazzo de Probizer, Piano Nobile | Il Marzemino senza filtri: a chat with the people who produce it
  An informal B2B meeting bringing together winemakers and industry professionals — restaurateurs, hoteliers, wine merchants, buyers and distributors — to taste the wines of the area and build new relationships. (Advance booking required.)
• 6.30 pm, Isera historic centre, courtyards and doorways | Portoni Aperti: Il Marzemino incontra il paese
  Historic courtyards open their doors to residents and visitors. Local associations will serve traditional menus paired with wines presented directly by the producers. (Free admission.)
• 8.30 pm, Casa del Vino della Vallagarina, Sala delle Armi | Guided tasting “Marzemino: Unconventional Tradition”
  An entertaining and unconventional tasting hosted by Sommelier Spettinato.The wines featured will be: Husar 2021 (de Tarczal), Marzemino dei Ziresi 2022 (Maso Salengo), Marzemino d’Isera Etichetta Verde 2024 (Cantina d’Isera) and Marzemino DOC 2025 (Letrari). SATURDAY, 3rd of OCTOBER

• 7.30 am, departure from Piazza San Vincenzo | Tractors in the Square: Vintage Tractor Rally and Parade
  A parade of vintage tractors and agricultural machinery through the local area, followed by lunch, organised by the Gruppo Amatori Macchine Agricole d’Epoca e Trattori Veci della Busa di Arco. (Information and registration: 339 3020236.)
• 6.00 pm, Isera Auditorium | Theatre and music performance “Le mille e un amore”
  A cultural performance by the Voci all’Opera group, featuring actress Elisa Salvini. Organised by the Municipality of Isera. (Free admission. Donations are welcome.)
• 6.30 pm, Isera historic centre | Portoni Aperti: an evening of flavours, wine and community
  A second evening among the village’s historic doorways and courtyards, with traditional dishes paired with the outstanding red wines of local winemakers. (Free admission.)

SUNDAY, 4th of OCTOBER

• 3.00–5.00 pm, departure from the Town Hall Loggia | Walking Tour “Along the Roads of Marzemino”
  A fascinating guided journey through the area’s farming heritage and rural transport traditions. The introduction will be given by Davide Brancalion, host of Oldtimer and President of the Veteran Car Team Bolzano, with live musical interludes by the Jan Novák Music School, featuring Mozart’s music. (Free admission. In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.)
• 5.00 pm, Town Hall Loggia | Farewell gathering with Cantina d’Isera’s Polenta Concia
  Official closing remarks and a final toast featuring the traditional polenta concia prepared by Cantina d’Isera. (In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled.)

Vallagarina Raises a Glass to Marzemino

Throughout all four days of the event, participating restaurants, wine shops and wineries across Vallagarina will offer special menus, themed aperitifs and exclusive tastings, continuing the journey of discovery into the world of Marzemino throughout the valley.
