After a number of restoration projects, one of the city’s most important and central buildings, Palazzo della Ragione, is the new home of the Achille Forti Modern Art Gallery. The Palazzo, which has always been the beating heart of the city centre, now hosts the municipal collections brought together for the first time with the collections of the Fondazione Cariverona and Fondazione Domus. The new Gallery carries on the name of its great patron Achille Forti (1878-1937): a botanist from a middle-class background, this illustrious citizen left the majority of his immense estate to the municipality of Verona, including his residence and his collection of art.
Thanks to many donations and to a series of acquisitions that expanded upon this starting point, the Modern Art Gallery in Palazzo della Ragione now has even more to offer the citizens of Verona and international visitors, confirming its position as a site of great variety and quality in terms of Italy’s visual and artistic heritage.
