FUNKY BEAT BAND & BECCALOSSI/CORINI/SIGURTÀ TRIO - Dolomiti Ski Jazz
The FUNKY BEAT BAND from Lavis will open the concert, followed by the TRIO BECCALOSSI/SIGURTÀ/CORINI playing accordion, trumpet, flugelhorn, and double bass.
The concert will open with a performance by the FUNKY BEAT BAND, an amateur orchestra of the “Gruppo Strumentale Giovanile” from Lavis (Trentino), which brings together 15 musicians in the classic Jazz Big Band formation, directed by Nicola Piras.
The Funky Beat Band includes Michele Tamanini, Davide Rossi, Gianni Mascotti, and Franz Carli on trumpet, Nicola Bortolotti and Mattia Perrina on trombone, and several saxophonists such as Lara Tomazzolli and Giorgio Milani on alto saxophone, Adriano Corá and Michael Tait on tenor saxophone, and Daniela Trentini on baritone saxophone. The group is completed by Nicola Gentilini on piano, Franz Carpentari on guitar, Roberto Marangio on bass, and Claudio Ischia on drums.

FAUSTO BECCALOSSI (accordion) is considered one of the top specialists in the international scene of chromatic accordion with a classical style. He has collaborated with the best Italian and international jazz musicians, including: Rava, Wheeler, Gibellini, Mirabassi, Pietropaoli, Fresu, Negri, De Vito, Troversi, Guiducci, Masu, and Epumer. He has also worked with Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and with Enrico Rava in the project “L’Opera va.” Since 2007, he has been part of the ensemble accompanying legendary guitarist Al Di Meola on his world tours.
FULVIO SIGURTÀ (trumpet and flugelhorn) earned his diploma in Classical Trumpet in 1998. In 2003, he moved to Boston to study on a scholarship at Berklee College of Music, earning his Jazz Diploma in 2004 from the Conservatorio di Brescia, and in 2005 received a Master with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 2012, Sigurtà was awarded the “Best New Talent” prize in the Top Italian Jazz Poll.
GIULIO CORINI (double bass) graduated in 2001 with top marks and honors at CPM under the guidance of Dino D'Autorio and Attilio Zanchi. He later specialized in double bass and improvisation with Franco Testa, Giovanni Maier, Paolino Dalla Porta, Furio Di Castri, Piero Leveratto, Scott Colley, Drew Gress, and Ben Allison. Considered one of the most interesting improvisers of his generation, Giulio Corini has been collaborating for years with major names in international jazz, from Enrico Rava to John Abercrombie.
