One-day excursion to the Geo Park at the top of Col Margherita to immerse yourself in the history and geology of the Dolomites, including volcanoes, glaciers, islands, seabed and fossil traces
The Col Margherita Geo Park, created with the MUSE of Trento, is an incredible theme park at 2500 metres above sea level that offers an exciting journey through volcanoes, glaciers and islands, revealing step by step the history and geology of the Dolomites. A fascinating journey for all ages, where adults and children can explore the seabed and take a dip into the past, back 290 million years ago when the entire area was affected by violent volcanic eruptions that gave rise to the reddish-brown rocks. As you ascend by cable car from San Pellegrino Pass, a 360° view of the Dolomites, a Unesco World Heritage Site, opens up before your eyes.
Meeting point: 10 a.m. in front of the small church of Sant'Antonio at San Pellegrino Pass. Short transfer on foot to the cable car departure station. Return at approximately 1 p.m. Difficulty: easy.
Price: 24 € adults, 12 € children from 4 to 12 years. Participants are responsible for the cost of the cable car. Panorama Pass for the lifts and Val di Fassa Guest Card for public transport from Moena to San Pellegrino Pass. Activity with limited number of participants. Sportswear and trekking shoes are required. It is advisable to bring a rucksack with a wind/rainproof jacket and water bottle. Packed lunch or lunch at the refuge.
