Vedetta Alta
Ascent to Vedetta Alta passing through some characteristic alpine huts
The proposed route, which touches 5 alpine huts (Malga Cloz, Malghetto di Cloz, ruins of Malga Belmonte, ruins of former Malga Samemberg, Malga Kesselalm), is, as mentioned, a circular route about 12 km long with an elevation gain of 900 m, suitable for good hikers. In some parts of the route, the tracks are quite uncertain, the signage scarce, so it is advisable to know how to use the map properly. In case of fog, orientation can be problematic, but this, like all others, is a highly panoramic route that we recommend doing in good weather and excellent visibility. Apart from the summit of Vedetta Alta, which is one of the most frequented destinations, you just have to step off the "classic" paths to practically meet no one: this is the charm of the Maddalene, a paradise not yet contaminated by mass tourism. Very beautiful is the crossing of the Alpe di Brez on the return, a solitary pasture plateau dotted with streams and ponds. The return is then a long route that skirts Monte Ometto to the south, following part of the path dedicated to Aldo Bonacossa, which crosses all the Maddalene lengthwise.
