Valle Gaverdina - La Via delle Valli
Mountain tour
Valle Gaverdina - La Via delle Valli

An emotional excursion, discovering a secluded valley with solitary features, connecting the valley floor to the crests of the surrounding mountains through a continually changing landscape.

The first stretch is on a mountain paved road and leads to Malga Gavardina, where the landscape takes on the typical features of alpine pasture with a view of Carè Alto peak framed by the valley slopes and fir forests enclosing wide pastures populated in summer by herds of cattle which replace, for a couple of months a year, the deer and roe deer, while the higher and steeper grassy slopes remain the realm of chamois. Here you take the path SAT 414 to follow it until you first reach Malga Casinot - where there is a small bivouac equipped with a stove, table, benches and some beds - and finally, after a stretch with little length but steep elevation, to Bocca dell’Ussol. A suggestive place where a small church, carved out in a military post dug into the rock dating back to the First World War, invites to religious silence recalling the tragedy of the war while the gaze rests on the green Val di Concei and the surrounding peaks.
