Valchestria - La Via delle Valli

Medium difficulty trekking, with a privileged view of the Brenta Dolomites and the Presanella, which from S.A. di Mavignola leads to Malga Valchestria passing through Clemp and its characteristic farmsteads.

There are several routes that reach Malga Valchestria, both from S.A. di Mavignola and from Madonna di Campiglio.

Here we propose a less frequented itinerary that climbs steeply in the woods near the last houses of the settlement of Sant’Antonio di Mavignola, skirts the panoramic terrace hosting the farmsteads of Clemp, and continues uphill to the hut.

The village is comfortably reachable by car and public transport and from the path entrance is easily accessible on foot.

The itinerary is well marked and the path is always visible. Unlike the excursion that follows the Via Crucis, this one is gentler and passes only on the margins of Clemp, with its farmsteads and fortifications, which we recommend visiting by taking a small detour.

The construction of the fortified barracks of Clemp, built between 1914 and 1915, was about forty meters long and was part of a larger defensive system composed of further trenches, barracks, rifle pits, and caves, of which today only some traces remain.
