Turn-by-turn directions
The first kilometres travel through a dense fir forest and then, continuing, the trees give way to fruit orchards and ample meadows, until you reach the town of Malé.
Along this section, you pass the hamlet of Ponte Stori, with a picnic area, and come within sight of Castel Caldès and the first “Bicigrill”. Continuing, you cross the large plain of Monclassico, until you reach the town of Dimaro, located at the entrance to Val di Meledrio. From here, the road to Madonna di Campiglio branches off.
The cycling path, on the other hand, heads towards Ossana, with the monumental keep of Castel San Michele, passing by Pellizzano, where you can find the second “Bicigrill”. You then climb decisively to Cogolo, along Val di Peio, beneath the peaks of the Cevedale range, within the Stelvio National Park.
This is a truly spectacular part of the route - albeit a more challenging one - surrounded by wild countryside. It is worth visiting the Ecomuseo di Peio, the ancient Venetian sawmill, and - naturally - the thermal spa centre, one of the most renowned in Italy.
The railway, which runs parallel to the cycling lane, has numerous stations spread out along the route, making it an excellent way to make your way back to the starting point.
