Circular hike to Monte Cimone

Hike to Monte Cimone through cool forests and splendid views of the Valsugana and Lake Caldonazzo

This unusual route ascends Monte Cimone from the north side and crosses a wild environment, a rarely traveled path. The first part, alternating forest roads and trails, is followed by a beautiful diagonal path (Panoramic Trek – Peace Trail) which uses an ancient military mule track, restored with reinforcements and the construction of magnificent suspension bridges. From this central point there is a breathtaking view over the Caldonazzo basin with its lake of intense blue: here the profiles of the Brenta Dolomites Group and Carè Alto outline the horizon enchantingly. The summit is reached by continuing along the last steep part (trail no. 222), completely immersed in the forest. The peak is covered by very dense vegetation and the beautiful summit cross seems disproportionately large compared to the tall trees that adorn the top. You can retrace your steps to the starting point or follow the SAT path no. 225 (Sentiero dei Piani) which descends directly toward the north side. This option allows you to complete a beautiful circular hike.
