This charming circular excursion takes place at the feet of the majestic peaks of the Presanella Group in a fantastically beautiful natural setting featuring brooks, small waterfalls and lakes and incredible panoramic views out towards the Brenta range, that at sunset turns a lovely shade of red. Turn-by-turn directions

At the parking lot, take the small path that leads to the typical wooden bridge across the torrent (Sarca d'Amola), with a copious water flow all the year round. Once off the bridge turn right following the indications for trail No. 211 “Oscar Collini”.

A set of changes in direction leads over the ramp that takes to a wide and panoramic ridge, to be followed all the way to the feet of Rifugio Segantini.

Continue along trail No. 211; to the bottom left is the view of the large Vallina esplanade, to the right the “Costiera del Cornisello” with the Om pass, and straight ahead the immense faces of the Presanella range.

The itinerary now reaches Rifugio Segantini (2373 m), a natural rest point.

After a good rest, proceed behind the hut and take the “Michele Matasoglio” trail (No. 211b) marked by a metal panel. The trail continues horizontally in a S-W direction and touches the lovely Laghetti del Segantini lakes.

Once past the lakes, the trail starts descending first sideways and then strongly to the left to enter the wide basin of Val d’Amola. Descend along the trail until you almost reach the large plain of Vallina D’Amola where you have two options: (i) if you have parked near Malga Vallina, cross the Sarca d’Amola to the left to reach the bridge you crossed at the start (near the 211 – 211/b crossroads) and thus your car (be careful not to descend too low because, being unable to cross the torrent, you would have to walk for a very long way); (ii) if you have parked at the mouth of Vallina D’Amola, continue towards the valley, keeping on the right bank (looking downstream) of the torrent, and cross it only at the end of the esplanade via the bridge located just a few metres from the parking lot.

Getting there

From Val Giudicarie:

On national road “SS239” of Val Rendena to Pinzolo, then to Madonna di Campiglio. Just before Sant’Antonio di Mavignola, on a hairpin bend to the right, take the Val Nambrone road (indications). Follow it for about 10 km up until the crossroads Vallina d’Amola-Cornisello, then turn left and continue until you reach the Vallina d’Amola parking lot at the esplanade and near the mountain dairy (“malga”) of the same name.
