The secrets of the old mountain farming tradition

Sora i Pré is a panoramic path on the slopes of Ciampedie that crosses the history of mountain agricultural culture, its urban and architectural development.

Above the meadows of Pozza runs a walk that reaches Pera skirting, uphill, the forest and, downhill, the meadows. Around, the panorama reveals the ridges of Costabella and the Valacia Group. The meadows that give the trail its name, until the 1950s, were lands intended for the production of barley, rye, and potatoes. They were divided into very fragmented land plots that have even become powdery over time. In fact, in Ladin tradition, contrary to the closed farmstead rule, land was equally divided among all family heirs. While walking, try to imagine sloping fields where the agricultural work was particularly hard, where every spring it was necessary to plow by bringing the soil back uphill that winter had accumulated downhill with wooden wheelbarrows, trip after trip. This work was entrusted to young people and women because men emigrated for work in the warm seasons.
