The rediscovered past: among ancient farmhouses and restored tobiè

Wood in the woods, in the roofs, in the barns, in the houses and on the balconies that overlook the Sassolungo from a privileged and ancient position as the path leading to Pian.

A breathtaking walk to reach Pian, one of the most picturesque and oldest villages in the valley. In the past, farmers and shepherds lived in harmony with the woodland animals and giants. Indeed, a Ladin legend testifies to their precious coexistence that ignites when the sun sets over the majestic Sassolungo, a traveling companion on the trail. Once upon a time, a tribe of kind and generous giants lived in the valley, beloved by people and with whom they exchanged food for gold ingots that grew in the rivers. One day the giant Sassolungo was born, with an evil spirit, who raided crops and domestic animals and blamed the woodland animals, the foxes, squirrels, and martens. Discovered by the king of the giants, he was condemned to sink into the earth every time he told a lie to the innocent people. Only the fingers of the hand remain of him, the five peaks of the solemn Sassolungo.
