The past rediscovered: among ancient farmhouses and restored tobiè

Wood in the woods, on roofs, in barns, in houses and on balconies overlooking the Sassolungo from a privileged and ancient position as the path leading to Pian.

A breathtaking walk to reach Pian, one of the most suggestive and ancient villages in the valley. In the past, farmers and shepherds lived in harmony with forest animals and giants. In fact, a Ladin legend testifies to their precious coexistence which ignites when the sun sets over the majestic Sassolungo, a companion on the path. There was a time when a tribe of good and generous giants lived in the valley, loved by men and with whom they exchanged food for gold ingots that grew in the rivers. One day the giant Sassolungo was born, with an evil spirit, who raided crops and farm animals and blamed the forest animals, the foxes, squirrels, and martens. Discovered by the king of giants, he was condemned to sink into the earth at every lie told against the innocent people. Only the fingers of his hand remain, the five peaks of the solemn Sassolungo.
