The Path of the old trades - from Sover

Ancient farmhouses, limestone, centuries-old chestnut trees, and the wild Avisio river as the undisputed protagonist of an incredibly rich route

The itinerary follows the section of the ethnographic path "Path of the old trades" on the left orographic side of the Cembra valley.

It starts from the center of the village of Sover and, just outside the settlement, takes a comfortable road that soon becomes a path and leads us to the hamlet of Piscine. We pass through Piscine until we reach the village fountain, where it is possible to take a rest break. Once crossed the SP71, on the left we take a path that surrounds the houses and descends towards Maso Marigiat.

Continuing to descend towards the Avisio stream, we reach a group of splendid ancient rural houses, some of which have been carefully restored respecting traditional architecture: we are at Maso Pianaci.

Our path continues descending, passing the Vettori limestone quarries, used until the middle of the last century for lime production, and continues in the woods skirting the Avisio stream, which runs through the valley between spectacular sheer rocks.

We arrive at Castelir, a large farmhouse located on the bank of the Avisio stream. Now in ruins, it was once a lively center of life, work, and sociality.

From here our path continues on metal walkways anchored to the rock and then on the bed of the Avisio and through the woods until the panorama surprisingly opens onto the wide clearing hosting the locality Molini di Sover: a cluster of houses a few meters from Pont de La Rio. We then climb back to Sover on a beautiful cobblestone road polished by time.
