The Grumes Farmhouses Route

A circular walk that crosses ancient farmhouses of German origin among meadows, crops, and wide panoramic views

A walk in the tranquility of the woods to rediscover the ancient Farmhouses of Grumes, a mountain corner that has preserved the atmosphere of its origins, dating back to the Middle Ages. Names and place names refer the foundation of the Farmhouses to the German immigration that affected Trentino between the 11th and 16th centuries, encouraged by the Tyrolean Lords of Koenigsberg and the Prince-Bishop of Trento to increase tithes and guard an important connection route between Tyrol and the Adige Valley. For about four centuries after their arrival, the German peasants of the Grumes Farmhouses area maintained their own language and customs, deeply influencing local culture.

The path links in a loop the Pinteri, Orion, Noldi-Forni, Gaiardi, Giovanni, Todescat, Pojeri, Ferrai, Greggion farmhouses, placed in an amphitheater of woods and meadows.

Starting from the square of the village of Grumes, ascend alongside the church to reach SS 612 near Green Grill. Cross the road and then begin to ascend towards the farmhouses of Grumes, pass by the historic chestnut grove and then reach the Upper Farmhouses, then descend after Maso Giovanni towards the Lower Farmhouses and return to the starting point.

The route takes place on lightly trafficked asphalt road.
