That Prato di Sorte...

A loop walk suitable for everyone across a vast grassy area. A place dear to the people of Moena because here, until 1993, they learned their first steps on skis and snow.

A route at the foot of Sas da Ciamp, on the right orographic side of the Avisio stream, which you will follow on the return to Moena. The route is flat with minimal elevation and runs across a large meadow, the Prato di Sorte. A precious forage reserve for valley farmers from time immemorial. So much so that its name derives from the civic use it was put to, for which every year among the residents there was a draw to select those who would take care of the mowing management. From the 1960s until the early 1990s, two skilifts operated here in winter rising to easy blue slopes. It was therefore the place where children and young people learned to ski down the snow. Today it remains a playground open both in summer and winter, Fiabilandia. At the center of the meadow stands the San Marco chapel, frescoed on all four sides, and the "Busa Vana," a ground depression shaped like a winnowing basket, "van" in Ladin.
