The Tàntz Path - Tàntzstaige is an ancient route starting from the settlement of San Sebastiano and continues for about 2 kilometers towards the Becco di Filadonna, through wonderful woods, clear water streams, and skillfully built dry stone walls.

TONZ - TÀNTZ - DANCE: A DANCING TOPONYM

Every community has always had a place and time dedicated to ritual. For example, the end of haymaking, the end of winter, the arrival of a new year were celebrated. Daily life was transferred into propitiatory rituals for rain, to appease the spirits of the woods or to venerate the mountain goddess. In these places, the ancient mountain inhabitants practiced rites and danced. The legacy of these ancient rites has come down to us carved in the Cimbrian toponym “Tàntz,” which translated means “Dance.”

TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE ROUTE

The path is suitable for everyone as it does not present particular technical difficulties. It is about 2 kilometers long and ideal to be walked in all seasons of the year. There are sections of path in the woods and in some points the slopes can be a bit steep; for these reasons, it is recommended to wear suitable clothing and trekking shoes.

LAND ART WORKS

Along the path, you can find works by Folgaria artist Alessandro Pavone accompanied by information boards with texts by anthropologist Michela Zucca and Andrea Nicolussi Golo, manager of the Cimbrian Linguistic Desk of the Magnificent Community of the Cimbrian Plateaus.

A TRIBUTE TO WOMEN

The Tàntz Path is a tribute to women who have always given life for life and have cared for nature for nature. Women, hermits, divine figures who had power over life and death precisely due to their profound knowledge of the secrets of nature.

The “Tàntz Path” project was created by the Young Group of San Sebastiano thanks to the support of the Youth Zone Plan of the Cimbrian Plateaus, the Municipality of Folgaria, the Apt Alpe Cimbra, the Caritro Foundation, the Nosellari Oltresommo Proloco, the Folgaria Hunters Section and all the volunteers who collaborated for its rediscovery and enhancement.
