Stage 3a Dolomiti Trek King - Viel del Pan

<p>This is the king of treks in Val di Fassa, among the most exciting mountains in the world. The third stage, with a small detour, will lead you from Passo Fedaia to Rifugio Des Alpes.</p>

<p>In front of Rifugio Marmolada Castiglioni, take trail no. 601, which runs along a long spectacular traverse, staying around 2400 meters elevation. This panoramic stretch, known as Viel del Pan, was once the preferred route of peddlers connecting Val di Fassa to the Livinallongo basin. Upon reaching Passo Pordoi, allow yourself a detour: take the cable car up to Sass Pordoi, the famous Dolomites Terrace, to admire an extraordinary 360° view.<br />Back at the pass by cable car, start the descent toward Rifugio Ciampolin. Near the starting station of the Kristiania chairlift, follow the forest road that crosses the highway twice until reaching Pian de Frataces, near the Hotel Lupo Bianco. From here, take the Pradel-Salei gondola, which takes you towards Passo Sella and Rifugio Salei, at the foot of Sassolungo. Then resume the walk and face the last uphill stretch along trail no. 557, until reaching Rifugio Des Alpes at Col Rodella (2,300 m), where overnight accommodation is planned.</p>
