SAT / E223 - Gionghi - Malga Belem - Belvedere

Pleasant route that starts from the center of Gionghi, passing through the woods of Belém, and reaches the ridge of Monte Cimone, panoramically overlooking the Upper Valsugana. Combined with route 224, it makes a nice circular hike of unexpected interest. 

<p>The trail starts from the center of the village of Gionghi, in front of the small church of S.Rocco. We pass between the characteristic colorful houses of the village and along a path, accompanied by ancient dry stone walls, we cross meadows, pass through the Fontanelle area, and enter a cool fir forest. After crossing the Tablàt ski slope and a mixed forest, we intersect the road leading to the Slaghenaufi hamlet (and the nearby Austro-Hungarian war cemetery).</p> <p>At this point, we take the flat forest road, which continues north through meadows and woods towards Baita Belém. After a few hundred meters, we follow to the right a beautiful mule track, partly paved (large lime kiln - furnace for lime production - on the right) and reach a clearing. Here we resume the previously abandoned forest road and shortly reach the clearing where Baita Belém is located. We continue for a short stretch on the forest road and follow a marked path that joins SAT trail 220, along which, turning right, we reach in a few minutes the Belvedere viewpoint, an exceptional balcony overlooking the Valsugana landscape with its lakes, villages, countryside, and a vast mountain horizon. </p>
