San Martino - Malga Tognola towards Cima Tognola

The proposed itinerary is a relatively easy route that can be done both during the summer and winter seasons, equipped with snowshoes or ski mountaineering skis.

This route starts from the parking lot of the base station of the Alpe Tognòla ski carousel at 1,400m above sea level, and develops in the initial ascent along the Tognòla forest, covering an elevation gain of about 800 m.

A gentle climb leading to Malga Crél characterizes the first part of the ascent towards Cima Tognòla. Shortly before reaching Malga Crél the itinerary veers right gaining altitude; here the forest begins to open allowing wide views of the panorama and the Pale di San Martino. As the vegetation gradually thins, the itinerary continues the ascent parallel to the ski slope "Tognola Uno" until reaching one of the peaks belonging to Alpe Tognola (2,164m above sea level).

After passing the highest point of the trail, ski mountaineers begin a long descent that, closing the loop, will bring you back to the start through the "Rododendro" slope, from which you will then take the "Tognola Tre" slope. The descent along the ski slope passes by Malga Tognòla, where it is possible to take a break before undertaking the route that returns to the starting point of the hike.

For those hiking with snowshoes, it is necessary to return along the same route as the ascent or descend with the cable car (making sure to buy the ticket at the boarding before starting the snowshoe walk).
