On the way to the red rock canyon in Soraga
"Tamion" is a precious architectural village with an incredible view of the Sassolungo group, Buffaure and Cima Dodici. Its small church houses Ladin treasures.
A precious itinerary of Ladin culture among bell towers, huts and barns allows you to touch the "red rocks of Soraga", which have survived at least 260 million years in valley incisions written by torrents, when the Dolomites were sea cliffs. Here, the stratified stone preserves precious fossils. From the square in Soraga, climb quickly to the beautiful hamlet of "Barbide", where the small church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, "Queen conceived without original sin" as an engraving states, holds votive images of the many pilgrims who have stopped here since 1600. It was the first stage of a mystical journey that ended in "Tamion", in the church dedicated to the Holy Trinity. This houses an imposing crucifix and two paintings attributed to Valentino Rovisi, a pupil of Giovan Battista Tiepolo, one of the best known Baroque painters in Trentino.
