On the way to the Soraga red rock canyon

Tamion is a precious architectural village with an incredible view of the Sassolungo group, Buffaure, and Cima Dodici. Its small church guards Ladin treasures.

A precious itinerary of Ladin culture among bell towers, huts, and stables that lets you touch the "red rocks of Soraga," surviving at least 260 million years in valley carvings written by streams when the Dolomites were marine reefs. Here the layered stone preserves precious fossils. From Soraga square, quickly climb to the beautiful neighborhood of Barbide, where the small church dedicated to the Immaculate, "Queen conceived without original sin" as reads an inscription, guards votive images of many pilgrims who have stopped here since the 1600s. It was the first stage of a mystical route that ended in Tamion, in the church dedicated to the Holy Trinity. Inside, it houses a majestic crucifix and two paintings attributed to Valentino Rovisi, a pupil of Giovan Battista Tiepolo, one of the most famous Baroque painters of Trentino.
