On monte Cornetto - Hornberg

The monte Cornetto, the mountain of Folgaria, Hornberg in the ancient Cimbrian German dialect, over 2000 m high. This hike takes us up there, but for caution, we stop at 1650 m, at the characteristic chapel of S. Vigilio, from which you have an incomparable panorama of the deep valley of the Rio Gola, the Adige valley, and the most beautiful peaks of Lower Trentino.

The various peaks of monte Cornetto lend themselves to different routes and route variants that can take us above 2000 m, up to the thrilling views of the Becco di Filadonna, the eastern part of Alpe Cimbra, and the valleys opening below, primarily the Valsugana and the lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico. We leave it to the hiker to decide to venture onto the peaks after prudently assessing the snow cover consistency. The route we present runs along the comfortable and safe forest road that from Passo del Sommo (1343 m) leads to the locality Paradiso, where the spruce forest ends and the high mountain pasture begins, framed by dense stretches of mountain pine.
