Moena - Lusia Lakes

Nice circular route that allows you to explore the wildest nature of Alpe Lusia and its wonderful lakes. From Moena you reach the start of the Lusia cable car in the locality of Ronchi. Using the lifts (first and second sections), you go up to Le Cune (2,200 m), from where there is a magnificent view of the Catinaccio, Latemar, Monzoni, Pale di San Martino, and Lagorai.

From Le Cune, following the ski slope, descend along path no. 614, towards Passo Lusia until the homonymous refuge. Here you take path no. 633 that enters the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park. Climb crossing grassy and rocky steps on the edge of the Lasté ski slope, alternating easy sections with steeper inclines, until the upper station of the lift (closed in summer). Turn right onto a flat area to reach the huts of Lasté (2,339 m), always open as shelters in case of bad weather. Follow the route of a military mule track with a partly paved surface, which climbs along the southern porphyry balcony of Cima Lasté and after some bends leads to La Trincea at 2,428 m. From this position, where the remains of fortifications from the First World War are clearly visible, you overlook the solitary basin of the Lusia Lakes, overlooked on the left by the porphyry ridge of Grònton. The path now descends towards the first of the two bodies of water, natural biotopes, where there is the small stone bivouac Sandro Redolf at 2,333 m. Continuing, it skirts the small lake and always follows path no. 633 that leads up to Cima Bocche (Cimon de Boce) at 2,745 m. Climbing among pastures on the edge of the Rif de Lujia stream, you reach in 20 minutes the beautiful second lake and then, in another 20 minutes, the Sforcela de Boce (2,541 m) from where you can admire, towards San Pellegrino, the mountain ranges Valacia, Costabella, and Cima Uomo. Return following the reverse route, and having reached Passo Lusia (Pas de Lujia), you can also continue on path no. 632 that leads to the intermediate station of the Valbona cable car. Via an alternative route, you can reach the Valbona cable car by climbing from the Sandro Redolf bivouac to the Sforcela de Lujia (2,363 m; where the equipped trail of Grònton also starts), then descending on path no. 634 up to the junction with the forest road which you take to the left, following the marked path no. 625 to Malga Colvere, Rifugio La Rezila, and Valbona cable car. Upon reaching the locality La Rezila, you can also choose to return via the forest road leading to the starting point of the route in Ronchi.
