Major Malina Trail - Val Genova - Itineraries of the Great War
<p>Short but evocative loop walk that covers part of the defensive preparations of the Fontanabona barrage. The cultural-historical trail is dedicated to Major Anton Malina, a figure of great importance in the context of the events of the White War having been the longest-serving Austro-Hungarian officer in command of the Fontanabona Subsector</p>
The simple path near Fontanabona offers a chance to see the traces of the Great War up close: remains of trenches, observatories, caves dug into the rock, terracing that served as the base of barracks, and shelters for soldiers. <p>From Carisolo, follow the Val Genova road to the Ponte delle Trincee bridge, located just beyond the end of the "Scala di Bo" climb; cross the stream and walk a loop on its orographic right and then return to the starting point and walk another loop on the opposite bank of the river.</p>
