In the wild nature of Val Monzoni
Exploring Val Monzoni is a journey back to the pristine essence of mountain nature. Ancient fir trees stand tall, followed by untouched, wild expanses where nature remains unspoiled by human hands.
A side valley adjacent to the more popular Val San Nicolò, it retains the timeless allure of past panoramas, offering demanding climbs followed by expansive, open high-altitude meadows. A rugged valley, with vast pastures, meadows, a handful of huts, and a solitary mountain lodge, marking the journey’s end. Here, a raging torrent has carved a thrilling canyon into the rock, the Monzoni Gorge, a dizzying experience you can immerse yourself in by crossing its bridge. The valley where resounding fir trees grow, their wood treasured for crafting magical violins. A trail where what appears to be still is, in fact, the result of the enchantment of the Sasso Undici and Sasso Dodici peaks of the Monzoni group, which guide and protect it. As you walk and lift your gaze, remember that the peaks of the Monzoni preserve a unique botanical and geological heritage, thanks to their volcanic and eruptive nature. The Malga (dairy) is a safe haven.
