In the footsteps of the Giotto paintings of Val di Fassa

Through fountains and ancient washhouses, you reach Pera, a treasure chest of historical and artistic gems. The small church of San Lorenzo preserves extraordinary altars and paintings.

In Mazzin, typical Ladin architecture is expressed in the houses but especially in the fountains with shingle roofs and separate spaces. It was here that, once, people met to socialize, confide, conduct business, and even fall in love. While women did the laundry and men stopped to water the livestock. From Mazzin, to reach the charming hamlet of Ronch, at the gates of the village of Muncion, you cross a slope that suffered a major landslide in the 1950s. Along the old path of the Via Crucis, you return to Pera, the village of Tita Piaz, called "The Devil of the Dolomites" and entered the history of world mountaineering. At only 20 years old he made headlines with an extraordinary feat: the climb of Torre Winkler, one of the Vaiolet Towers. Next to Pera's cemetery, which preserves his remains, the church of San Lorenzo, dating from 1603, houses the precious paintings of Franzeleto Bernard, the great peasant painter, fellow townsman and conscript of Tita.
