In Muncion, in the silence of rural farming life

Pera, meaning stone, gets its name from the erratic boulder of the village, next to the historic Albergo Rizzi. But its fame is connected to the world of mountaineering, of which it is a natural gateway.

Pera is the birthplace of Tita Piaz, the Devil of the Dolomites, the legendary mountaineer, but also Ladin writer and poet. Moreover, the village has an extraordinary position at the entrance of the Vaiolet Valley. A gateway to the more slender Dolomites, the homonymous Towers, ethereal and elegant, and to the basin of Gardeccia with its priceless views, in the Catinaccio group. The walk is in fact a Way of the Cross. From Pera, it reaches Muncion, a settlement far from roads and any noise, which is being repopulated by families seeking nature and peace. Fourteen blessed chapels connect the two villages, built in the second half of the 19th century by the families of the hamlets of Muncion and Ronch. New images representing Christ's passion displayed there were donated by the painter Tullio Bernard in 2000, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Anna, patron saint of Muncion.
