From here, in a few minutes you reach the mountain hut San Pietro, located on a natural terrace that offers a spectacular view of the Upper lake Garda area.</p> <p>The hut is <strong>one of the favorite destinations in Garda Trentino</strong>, because it is easily accessible also by car. It starts from Canale di Tenno, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy. Here, among alleys and old stone houses, time really seems to stand still. You can hike this tour (almost) all year round, but remember to check the status of paths as well as the opening of the hut San Pietro.

Ville del Monte can be reached on theroad SS 421, following the signs for Tenno / Terme di Comano / Madonna di Campiglio; it is about 10 km from Riva del Garda. Leaving the car at the parking lot at the junction to Canale di Trenno, go back to the main road staying on the right and take the uphill road that leads to the village of Canale (trail sign SAT 406B / Garda Trek Medium Loop).

Equipment
You need to wear the right clothing and take the proper gear when you go hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short easy outings make sure to take all you need so you don't run into trouble if things take an unexpected turn, for example a storm blows up or you have a sudden drop in energy levels.
What should you take when you go on a hike?
Your rucksack (for a day trip a 25/30L capacity should do) should contain:
- water canteen (1L)
- snacks (e.g. mixed dried fruit or chocolate)
- First aid kit
- windproof jacket
- fleece
- change of t-shirt and socks (in a plastic bag)
- make sure to wear or at least bring a pair of long trousers
- hat
- sun screen
- sunglasses
- gloves
- whistle to attract attention in an emergency
Make sure you're wearing the right footwear for the trail and season. The going can get rough and rocky underfoot and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. When wet, a grassy slope, rocky slab or steep trail can be dangerous unless you are wearing the proper footwear.
