Dragon Path - Dragon Vaia Regeneration - Departure from Frazione Bertoldi

Discover the largest wooden Dragon in Europe!

Work created by the Venetian sculptor Marco Martalar in Magrè

Forged from the ashes of the Vaia Dragon, the new dragon has returned to Lavarone! With its 6 tons of charred wood, 16 meters long and 7 meters high, it is the largest wooden dragon sculpture in the world. Made with roots from the Vaia storm, it carries the memory of what happened to its predecessor. The wood pieces are completely charred, deliberately burned by the artist Martalar, who combined them with the remains of the fire to compose the new work. The sculpture has a less gentle connotation than the previous Dragon because it needs to tell something different and distinct. This new Dragon is not only a guardian and a warning about the relationship between humans and nature but also a keeper of memory, stories, and a symbol of rebirth and resilience where we humans should always remain humble before Mother Nature.

From Frazione Bertoldi follow the signs for Magrè Tablat and then once you reach the Enchanted Den, follow the signs for the Dragon Path (a route of about 45 minutes).

If you want to save time in Bertoldi, take the chairlift, so you save 30 minutes of walking, then follow the signs for the dragon path.
