Cavedine Gravel Experience

A gravel bike trip in the Cavedine and Sarca valleys

Arco is easy to get to from the surrounding towns, using the handy cycle paths. From here, the climb is rapid, in a setting of olives and holm oaks, alongside the cliffs that have made climbing in this area so famous. Passing from the village of Braila, the route continues towards Drena before entering the Val di Cavedine, at the foot of Mount Bondone. The most difficult section is when coming to the top, towards the Sarca Valley, along the route through the archaeological area of Cavedine. The rather uneven surface here includes old cobbles and makes some of the sections anything but predictable. After this section, the surfaces are once again smooth as far as Lake Cavedine and therefore, the bottom of the valley.

Author’s recommendation
There are some noteworthy archaeological sites to see along the route, and in particular: rock engravings in Pianaura, and the Carega del Diaol on the hill overlooking Cavedine.
