Cable car route
<p>A route inspired by the heavy military cable car that during the Great War (1914-1918) connected the Calliano railway station to Folgaria, from where another network of cable cars distributed goods and ammunition to the most advanced lines of the front. A challenging itinerary of historical, scenic, and natural interest</p>
<p>This is not a route for everyone as it requires overcoming an elevation gain of about 750 m to return back to the starting point. On the other hand, it offers unusual points of interest of historical, landscape, and naturalistic nature. The main historical points of interest are the remains of the military cable car transit stations located at Carpeneda, Mezzomonte di sotto, and Ondertol; other historical points of interest are the 18th-century church of San Valentino and the old Cimbrian farmhouse of Ondertol. Other noteworthy elements are the panoramic viewpoints (from San Valentino, Mezzomonte, Ondertol) and various naturalistic features such as the mid-mountain vegetation belt and the Rosspach stream.</p>
