At Pian, in the footsteps of Ladin culture
<p>Pian smells of warm bread and old-time Ladin culture. A place so suggestive it has been used as a location for films and documentaries by the Trentino Film Commission.</p>
<p>"Tobiè", the old haylofts, synonymous with security and abundance. Gnomes, carved animals, tiny staircases, stone paths, and orderly stacks of wood. Then houses painted with traditional motifs and religious mottos dedicated to Mary, and the ancient ovens where, at once, because of their shape and ability to retain heat, it was possible to bake bread that would last many weeks. Along the road, you will notice several fountains because the route features a tough climb that did not, however, affect daily life. Pian is surrounded by rocks that testify to breccias from an ancient volcanic explosion at the beginning of Val di Fassa's volcanic activity. This makes the area very interesting scientifically since older geological formations overlap younger ones, a curious disruption of the natural order of time.</p>
