At Becco di Filadonna and the Madonnina bivouac

A route of great charm, suitable for experienced hikers, allowing you to appreciate Vigolana in its most spectacular aspects between carbonate spires and breathtaking views of the Vigolana Plateau and Alta Valsugana.

The itinerary is demanding and suitable for experienced hikers, both due to the significant elevation gain to overcome (1375 m), the length, about 8 hours for the entire round trip, and because there are short equipped sections requiring some care to overcome. Becco di Filadonna, with its 2150 m a.s.l., is the highest peak of the Vigolana massif. The Frate spire and the Madonnina rocky pinnacle are two spectacular rock formations located on the northeastern slope, and nearby, perched on a rocky spur overlooking Vigolo Vattaro and Lake Caldonazzo, is a key shelter for climbers recently renovated: the Vigolana bivouac at the "Madonnina" (1990 m a.s.l.). From the Bivouac there is an aerial view of three very different areas: the Vigolana Plateau and the Marzola, the Valsugana, and the Adige Valley with the city of Trento. A place of peace and reflection where it is also possible to overnight in self-managed mode and practice an exciting climb on the magnificent Madonnina spire. Becco di Filadonna and the bivouac are reachable via the SAT E442 trail, which is also the access trail to the Casarota Refuge, the main resting point of the route with a panoramic view of the upper Val di Centa and the Lavarone plateau. After the refuge and reaching the summit ridge, the itinerary continues with an interesting and panoramic traverse along the SAT marked trail E425 to the bivouac. The traverse offers an overview of the karst area of the southern slope of Vigolana: a grand amphitheater gently sloping south, with a breathtaking view of the Adige valley. The most evident karst morphologies are made up of vertical karst shafts that testify to the presence of underground karst phenomena (caves). One of the most visible is the Bus della Caldera, about 400 meters north of Castellazzo; others include Bus del Giaz, Bus del Bech, Abisso Bosentino, and especially the Gabrielli Cave, among the most notable in Trentino.
