Alpine pastures at the foot of the Lagorai

A route through high-altitude woods, alpine pastures, and small mountain huts embraced by the Lagorai

The route we suggest is suitable for warm summer days or, in winter, for snowshoeing, as it takes place at an altitude starting just below 1500 meters at Baita Monte Pat up to over 2000 meters at Monte Cogne.

The route starts from Baita Monte Pat, reachable by car from Montesover (or on foot via SAT 468 trail). From here, follow the SAT 468 trail that climbs to Malga Vernera, the only mountain hut still active in the entire Val di Cembra area. Here you can relax among the green flowering pastures where the bells of grazing cows ring or admire the majestic panorama while sitting at the hut and tasting the cheese produced here, with unforgettable aromas.

Our path continues on an almost flat road (SAT 469A trail) and soon reaches the alpini chapel. From here, we ascend through pastures to Malga Vernera Alta, cross the fir and Swiss pine forest to emerge in the Cimati clearing, and it is possible to climb up to the cross on Monte Cogne. From the summit of Cogne, the view extends 360 degrees towards the Piné plateau, the Brenta group, the Fassa Dolomites, and the Lagorai.

The route continues towards Passo Mirafiori and from there takes the SAT 468 trail again towards Malga Vasoni Alta. Upon reaching the location Camorè, the trail gives way to a comfortable dirt road that brings us back to Malga Vernera Bassa and then, retracing the initial section, back to Baita Monte Pat.
