At the vanished castle of the countess of Dolèda
From the center of Canazei, a "calcareous" walk in purity at the foot of the Colac and the Gran Vernel massif among woods, meadows and bridges on the left bank of the Avisio river.
Alba, in Ladin Dèlba, meaning rocky wall, is a hamlet dominated by the rocky ridge of Dolèda, very light in color as it consists of extremely pure limestone masses. Perhaps it is this color that inspired Ladin imagination with the legend of a spirit that continues to live, protect and bless the village and the mountain. It is the immortal soul of a noblewoman, Dolèda, who today also lives in a light steel sculpture that lets itself be crossed by wind, sun rays and the gaze on Col dei Rossi, the Belvedere of Canazei. The work is 3.60 meters high and was created by the Ladin artist Andrea Dorigatti. According to the legend, Dolèda lived in a wonderful castle where she guarded a rich vein of gold. Her castle no longer exists but, still according to the legend, her precious stones were used to build the bell tower of Alba's church dedicated to Saint Anthony Abbot.
