6 - Ascent to the Salt dela volp

This is the classic hike leading to a panoramic point, in our case the Salt dela volp. The 'volp' is naturally the fox, a wild animal typical of the alpine areas, quite common around here, but difficult to encounter except by chance, especially in winter. The panoramic point rewards the effort made to reach it: it offers a wide view over the Costa basin and the southern part of the plateau, all the way to the Pasubio mountain massif. The hike is suitable for everyone, recommended also for families with children (+ 6 years). <p> </p>

One of the highlights of this route is the lovely forest environment in which it takes place, namely the dense spruce forest covering the southern slope of Mount Cornetto. The path, which is mainly a dirt road formerly used for logging (transporting timber downhill), gradually ascends the slope in a diagonal, leading the hiker above the Costa area. It does not present particular difficulties. Near the destination, there is the locale Fontanelle, beside the former ski slope, where a characteristic fountain allows us to stop and refresh ourselves. The panoramic point is nearby. It is a rocky knoll, visible from the valley because of the tricolor flag maintained there by the Promocosta association. A bench allows us to admire the panorama while sitting comfortably.
