40 - Forts Route
During the First World War (1914-1918), the Alpe Cimbra, near the Austro-Italian border, found itself on the front line. Witnesses of those tragic events are the seven Austro-Hungarian fortresses that formed the fortified barrier of the Altpiani, from Cima Vézzena to Dosso delle Somme. They are located on the summits of the heights, in panoramic positions, a destination for exciting excursions.
The true points of interest of this route are the Great War Forts, which combine a passion for history with the beauty of the places, and the wide panoramas that open up over the heights surrounding Alpe Cimbra, the deep valley of Terragnolo, and the Pasubio mountain massif.
