Peace Trail: from Passo delle Selle to Val Contrin

The Peace Trail is a journey into memory. A path that crosses Trentino, from Tonale to Marmolada, through the lands of the White War. This stage unfolds in the heart of the Fassa Dolomites, bringing you to the foot of the Marmolada.

This stage connects Passo San Pellegrino to Val Contrin, walking on less known trails that imprint strong emotions step by step. Starting from Rifugio Passo delle Selle, you descend into the wild Val Monzoni, a true geological treasure rich in very rare crystals. You walk the last section of the "Strada dei Rusci", built by Russian prisoners of war; you climb the head of the enchanting Val San Nicolò and reach the waterfalls formed by the springs of the homonymous stream. You regain altitude crossing the valley of Col Ombert in a solitary natural environment that testifies to the glacier erosion that covered the whole area until 10,000 years ago. Pas Pasché, the second highest point of the excursion, offers an exceptional view of Sasso Vernale, Gran Vernel, Ombretola, and the southern face of the Marmolada. The well-marked trail leads you into Val Contrin, at the foot of the Queen of the Dolomites. Before reaching the refuge, stop at the alpine hut for a snack with true high mountain flavors.
