26 - Pioverna route
Pioverna Alta is a large grassy knoll, located at 1770 m altitude, above the Passo Coe pass. It is one of the most scenic spots in Alpe Cimbra, offering a 360° panorama that captures the most beautiful peaks of southern Trentino. It is primarily an alpine hut, usually staffed from June to September.
On this height, during the First World War, fierce battles took place. It was the Austrian front line, located a short distance from the Italian front line. A hundred years later, the marks of the fierce bombardments of May 1915 are still visible on the pastures, when the entire area was the scene of the first phases of the Spring Offensive. Hundreds of men fell on this ground.
