#19) From Passo Pian delle Fugazze to Rifugio Achille Papa

<p>Short stage, with a very pleasant uphill climb, leading to the splendid landscapes of the Pasubio, scene of terrible clashes during the Great War. The short duration allows you to explore the legendary Road of the 52 Tunnels, a marvel of military engineering.  </p>

<p>Start from Passo Pian delle Fugazze and gradually climb towards the Galleria d'Havet. The road is quite wide as it was used in wartime as a carriageway to transport heavy military equipment to altitude. After passing the tunnel, the route essentially follows the <a href="https://www.outdooractive.com/r/800938348/">Road of the Heroes,</a> a drivable stretch steeped in history, which winds between the imposing peaks of the Pasubio massif, about 2 kilometers long, constituting a tangible link with the heroic past, connecting the Galleria D’Havet to the scenic Achille Papa refuge at 1,934 meters above sea level.</p> <p>The name Road of the Heroes reflects the tribute to the courageous soldiers who fought in this area during the years of the Great War. Along the rocky walls surrounding it, commemorative plaques are placed in honor of the 12 Gold Medals of Military Valor, a tangible symbol of sacrifice and courage.</p> <p>The overall route of the Road of the Heroes extends for about 10.4 kilometers, and along its path there are milestones that, every kilometer, indicate the distance traveled from the start of the trail, namely from the scenic Pian delle Fugazze.</p>
