Punto Panoramico Monzoni - Cima Undici
The Monzoni Group, including Cima Eleven, Cima Twelve and Punta Vallaccia, the highest at 2,637 metres, overlooks the Fassa Valley to the east.
Its mighty vertical rock towers appear impervious and seemingly inaccessible. It offers beautiful landscapes and a unique panorama thanks to its isolated location, which gives it an added value: it is less frequented and known than the other mountain groups in the area. To this is added a further peculiarity: the peaks of the Fassa Valley are composed of dolomite, while the Monsoons are mainly made up of eruptive rocks (such as monzonite) and metamorphic contact rocks, rich in fossils, so as to be the most important mineralogical deposit in the entire Dolomite area. The Monzoni Torquato Taramelli (2,040 m) and Vallaccia (2,275 m) refuges are perfect points of reference for excursions in the area.
