Nature as a Training Gym
Only The Brave (OTB) is an event that has been bringing together firefighting personnel from various services operating in Italy and abroad since 2015.
The race course stretches from the main square of the town of Mezzano (TN) to the meadows of San Giovanni, covering approximately 5 km with an elevation gain of 550 m.
Participants are required to wear their intervention uniforms and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to protect their airways.
Only the Brave was established as the first race in which firefighters are called to showcase their technical and physical preparation in the use of service equipment, later becoming a reference for many similar events.
Target Audience: The race is reserved for firefighting personnel belonging to the permanent and volunteer Fire Brigade Corps and Commands, as well as members of firefighting teams from other public or private organizations, authorized to use such personal protective equipment (PPE).
Objectives: In addition to the competitive challenge, an equally important aspect is the personal challenge. The organizing committee aims to motivate participants to prepare physically and mentally for the effort they face during interventions, specifically to manage their air reserve.
EXPO: Throughout the event, an area dedicated to sponsors will be set up in the main square of the town where they can promote their products.
Side Activities: Before the race starts, a parade will be organized through the historic center of the village, featuring athletes accompanied by historical vehicles. The day will conclude with dinner, awards, and music.
Program:
- 4:30 PM: Parade of historic cars and participants
- 5:30 PM: Musical entertainment by the Primiero Band
- 6:30 PM: Race start
- 7:00 PM: Dinner open to everyone
- 10:00 PM: Award ceremony
A medical-sports visit of type B is mandatory for both trials.
