A fantastic voyage through contemporary art
If you want to understand and enjoy contemporary culture you must go to Mart, Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea of Trento and Rovereto. Its collection is extraordinary rich: from Futurism to Metaphysical Art, from “Arte Povera” to Conceptual Art, up to the most recent experimenting.
The displays, regularly renewed, of Mart’s Permanent Collection offer masterpieces by futurist artists like Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Fortunato Depero, Enrico Prampolini, Luigi Russolo, Gino Severini and also important works of many important artists of the italian Novecento like Felice Casorati, Giorgio de Chirico, Fausto Melotti, Giorgio Morandi, Medardo Rosso, Alberto Savinio, Mario Sironi, Alighiero Boetti, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis, Piero Manzoni, Mario Merz, Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Mart’s main venue is wedged between two 18th century palaces, in a building designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta with the collaboration of Rovereto-born engineer Giulio Andreolli.
