Flavour and history
Guided hike from Ciampedie to Roda di Vael, along one of the oldest paths in Val di Fassa, rediscovering the life of mountain shepherds before the advent of tourism
Programme: departure from "Ciampedie" towards the Roda di Vael along the path "Alta Via dei Fassani". Here we enter the history of the valley, along the stages of rural life before the tourism. In the past, the trade in Val di Fassa was mainly based on the growth of potatoes, wheat and rye. Step by step, through the centuries, small farms started to be established and this brought soon to the milk processing and to the making of the top quality cheeses that are famous nowadays. During the walk, we will have the chance to admire the most beautiful flowers typical of the Dolomites, such as the edelweiss and the nigritella. Moreover, we will also have the chance to meet the marmots and see their lair into the ground, hear the sentinels whistling and, probably, see them playing or sunbathing.
Meeting point: every Thursday at 9 a.m. by the top station of the cable car. The route will be decided at the time, depending on the group, by the guide.
Registration: not required. Price: free activity included in the Panorama Pass or in the lift ticket. Bus ticket to be paid extra.
