Willy Verginer | Rêverie
Gardena artist Willy Verginer returns to the Studio d’Arte Raffaelli with a solo exhibition entitled Rêverie, in homage to the dreamlike atmospheres evoked by his sculptural work.
In fact, the exhibition itinerary is divided into three sections, corresponding to as many series of works, which compose a poetic full-length narrative in harmony with the evocative spaces of Palazzo Wolkenstein.
In the main room of the gallery, the protagonist will be the faunal universe, in which wild and exotic animals subvert reality by taking possession of liturgical and baroque furnishings; in the second room, adolescent figures of young people caught in the moment of sleep appear, in a sort of fantastic and ecstatic abandon; in the third and last room, there is a metamorphic fusion between human presences and the natural world.
The artist’s goal, through a collection of sixteen never-before-seen sculptures made partly life-size and partly on a smaller scale, is to create and provoke reflections and questions about environmental impact and the balances that govern interpersonal relationships.
Through the use of color and – for the first time – combustion, Willy Verginer’s figurative work takes on a conceptual significance that makes it unique in the contemporary art scene.
To coincide with the exhibition, the gallery presents the artist’s new limited edition ceramic piece from the work “The Planet for Our Planet”: an ironic play on words visually translated into a new sculpture signed by Willy Verginer, published in 25 handmade examples.
Accompanying Rêverie is a catalog with text by Camilla Nacci Zanetti, collecting images of all the works on display.
