Fassa Sky Expo

The crew of the most passionate pilots, those of free flight, will meet in Val di Fassa from 27 to 29 September for Fassa Sky Expo. The event, organised by the active Icarus Flying Team and which has its headquarters in the sporting area of the "Ischia" locality in Campitello, attracts paragliding and hang-gliding enthusiasts from all over the world from mid-September onwards. The paragliding and hang-gliding currents which, from late summer until early autumn, develop around the Sella massif, allowing you to soar through the air for long periods of time among the Dolomite peaks, are famous among experts. Natural take-offs such as Col Rodella, thanks also to the opening (until 6 October) of the cable car that takes you quickly from Campitello to the panoramic pass at 2400 metres, as well as the Belvedere in Canazei, are transformed into lively squares, where the most diverse languages are heard, but where everyone knows the code of the common passion for flying. And the spectacle is not only admiring the sky dotted with multicoloured sails from the bottom of the valley with their noses in the air, but also witnessing the numerous take-offs at altitude, one after the other.

The winning formula of the three-day fair, which attracts more than a thousand people to the valley, coming from different parts of Italy as well as from Germany, Austria, France and other European countries, also lies in the opportunity to test first-hand the latest market novelties, from sails to harnesses and navigation instruments, on display at some twenty stands. Besides sport, the weekend also offers moments of entertainment, discussion and refreshments. The Friday evening is entirely dedicated to flight experts: paragliding and hang-gliding professionals and champions from all over Italy have an area of the fair especially for them to encourage meetings, exchanges of information and experiences with enthusiasts. Also to be tried is "Hike & Fly Italian League", the Saturday morning sporting event that combines trekking with flying, travelling along little-known paths and discovering the most authentic places in the valley, together with a mid-mountain guide. While in the evening, again in the Ischia marquee, there will be partying until late with music and typical Ladin dishes.

Programme on Friday 27 September:

• 9 a.m. - opening of the fair and stand with the possibility for pilots to test materials and equipment
• 6 p.m. - closing of the stand and evening in the company of flight experts

Programme Saturday 28 September:

• 8:30 a.m. - Hike & Fly Italian League (in case of bad weather the event is postponed to Sunday)
• 9 a.m. - opening of the fair and stand with the possibility for pilots to test materials and equipment
• 6 p.m. - stand closing
• 6.30 p.m. - Icarus Party with music and typical Ladin dishes

Programme Sunday 29 September:

• 9 a.m. - opening of the fair and stand with the possibility for pilots to test materials and equipment
• 3 p.m. - closing of the fair
