DoloMyths Run 42K Fassa Trail
Waiting for the main event, the Skyrace, a marathon that tests endurance and determination on a spectacular high altitude route, reaching almost 2500 metres, dominated by the world elite and reserved for the most trained long distance amateurs
On 12th and 13th July, Canazei transforms into the ultimate destination for trail running with the DoloMyths Run! Now in its 27th edition, this legendary race is the third event of the GTNS - Golden Trail National Series powered by Salomon, the most prestigious off-road circuit in Italy. Over 1,300 athletes from around the world will take on the challenge across three distances, all starting from Canazei. The weekend kicks off at 7 a.m. with the DoloMyths Run 42K Fassa Trail, the extended version of the 12K Trail: 43 km, 2,300 m of elevation gain, and a 12-hour time limit to reach the finish line.
After the start, runners will embark on a spectacular route, traversing some of the most breathtaking landscapes of the Dolomites. From Canazei through Alba, Penìa, and Pian Trevisan, they will reach the historic Austro-Hungarian military mule track, carved into the rock by Russian prisoners during the First World War. Crossing dense forests, the legendary "Ciamorciaa" glacial potholes, and the "Col de Baranchie", they will then tackle the imposing slopes of the Marmolada before descending towards the Cima Undici Rifugio and the Fedaia Dam. Skirting the left bank of the lake, they will then climb the historic route leading to Padon Pass. From here, they will take the famous "Viel dal Pan", the ancient path once used by Belluno traders to transport flour to Val di Fassa. Upon reaching the Fredarola Rifugio at "Col dei Rossi", they will head towards Pordoi Pass, followed by a long and technical descent to "Pian Schiavaneis" ("Lupo Bianco"). But the challenge is far from over: runners must climb back up the opposite side through the Val Salei, regaining altitude at Col Rodella. From there, just 7 km separate them from the finish line in Canazei’s main square, where the crowd will be waiting to cheer them on for the final, electrifying sprint. In 2024, Riccardo Borgialli of Team New Balance and Giulia Marchesoni of Team Salomon Italia claimed victory. Who will be next to take the crown?
