Celebrate Ferragosto with the legendary "Aquile" (Eagles) – the Alpine Guides of San Martino and Primiero!
Program
- Thursday, August 14
From 9:00 PM – Traditional “ecological torchlight procession” by the Alpine Guides "Aquile" of San Martino and Primiero, the Alpine Rescue Service, and the Guardia di Finanza Rescue Unit. The descent begins from Cima Rosetta and is visible from Piazzetta Sass Maor in the town center.
Join the experience! It's possible to take part in the torchlight procession and enjoy dinner at Baita Colverde. Price: €45.00, includes round-trip ride on the Colverde lift, dinner, escort by Alpine Guides, torch, and a warm glass of mulled wine at the end in Piazzetta Sass Maor. Booking required at the Alpine Guides Office inside the San Martino di Castrozza Tourist Office, daily from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
While you wait: documentary footage about the Velo della Madonna will be shown.
Approx. 10:20 PM – Arrival of the torch procession in town, accompanied by Tyrolean music, ending at Piazzetta Sass Maor.
- Friday, August 15
10:30 AM – Holy Mass accompanied by the Sass Maor Choir of Primiero at the Church of San Martino. After the mass, blessing of the climbing ropes and the “Eagles” Monument at Piazzetta Crodaroi, followed by a parade of the Alpine Guides to the town’s Sports Hall.
From 12:30 PM – Guides' Lunch featuring typical Primiero-style specialties, followed by a concert by the Sass Maor Choir.
From 1:00 PM – Climbing demonstrations by the Alpine Guides, and free climbing trials open to all participants.
